Not For The Faint of Heart

I link to a blog on my sidebar called Diary of a Babydyke. I don’t remember how exactly I found Nelfy’s blog, but I enjoy her writing and read her regularly, so I threw up her link. When she checked her statcounter to see where people were finding her blog from, she saw that some of her readers where finding her site through this lovely blog. So, she checked me out. Here is her reaction to this little blog o’ mine. She said:

“…I went over to her blog and got a warning that the blog was for adults only and contained adult content. Now I’m used to getting these warnings for things like lesbian kisses *gasp* so I tend to ignore them and just continue. This time though, I understand why this warning was in place…

What I didn’t expect were pictures. Which made me want to leave and never come back. I will admit to going back and reading some more… But while I will probably never post anything as explicit, I find it liberating when other people do. I’m all for owning your sexuality and doing what you are comfortable with and not caring about what other people think. Even if it makes me blush.”

I’m glad that she respects people’s right to write about whatever they want even if it isn’t what she would choose to write about. I’m glad that she came back and kept reading even though she was uncomfortable at first. And I’m glad that she was open-minded enough not to judge, and even wrote about the reaction she had and why she had it on her blog.
The thing is, I tend to forget that a lot of what I talk about here isn’t the norm for most people. I forget that many people don’t discuss sex, they don’t discuss sexuality, and they don’t post their naughty bits for the world to see. I am in this little bubble of the blogosphere and interweb that is very sexually explicit, and many of the people that stumble on this blog are coming from sites that are just as, if not more, explicit than mine.
It’s nice to be reminded every now and then that there are still people out there that aren’t used to reading the kind of stuff that I write. And its even nicer when one of those people stumbles across my writing and it affects them enough to inspire a post on their own blog.
So hi, Nelfy! Thanks for stopping by, for giving me a chance, and for being open-minded enough to forge ahead! I will continue to stop by your place, too, because I love hearing what you have to say, even if it isn’t all about sex.

    Hi :D

yeah, well, if I would blog about my sex life – there would be nothing to blog about. sad, but true.

I totally get what you write about 'living in this little bubble' – I live in my lesbian bubble and sometimes, I forget that most people are straight. Online, I hardly ever feel like the outsider that I am in real life.

I think the thing that threw me, apart from that one picture, was that your stories are true. I love reading Literotica, but those are just stories, not stuff that happens to real people. hm, I'm not really sure how to explain my thoughts.

you know, I've been judged by other people often enough to be careful when forming an opinion. Most things aren't what they seem to be at first glance, so I try to be open about new things. I would hate to miss out on experiences that might broaden my horizon just because I'm uncomfortable. so thank you for broadening my horizons!

I made my friends roommate blush about 19 times tonight alone. When my friend Alicia and I get together it's like when the CW girls get together… and poor innocent Renee was getting the brunt of all the casual sex banter…

I plan on breaking her in, like I do with all my friends :D
