The lovely and always adorable Meg has given me a Fabulous Blog Award. I quite appreciate it, and I like that she called me and my blog “thought provoking.” Also, something/one that many people probably “won’t get.” I don’t know about the former, but the latter is definitely true. Now, in order to formally accept this award, I must do two things: 1) I must list my five addictions, and 2) I must pass this on to 5 fabulous blogs.
1. Champagne. I adore champagne. I am notorious for showing up places with a bottle or two of champagne in tow. I have a very high tolerance for alcohol, and the first time that I drank champagne I was wasted off half a bottle. I fell in love immediately. I like it brut or extra dry, and don’t much appreciate champagne that is too sweet. I usually drink Korbel Brut because it’s only like $12 a bottle, but if I can afford to splurge a little I’ll grab Moet White Star or Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label.
2. Jezebel. I love this site. While I do think that the quality of the content has gone down since I began reading, it’s not so much reading what the editors themselves have to say anymore as it is the commenter community that has formed over there. If you look on my sidebar, I have a list of Jezzie blogs that I read (hi, girls!), and I have somewhere around 75 Jezzie friends on Facebook. These girls have become some of the best friends I could ever ask for, and are some of the most supportive people I’ve ever come across. The other day, a girl messaged me on Facebook after seeing a post on Jez’s page inquiring about Jezzies that lived in South Florida. Upon learning my commenter name, she referred to me as “Jez royalty.” Initially was a little embarrassed and thought that that might be my cue to back slowly away from the internet, but fuck it. I’ll take it as a compliment.
3. Trashy reality television. All of it. Any of it. It is escapism at it’s finest, and sometimes it’s just what I need. I DVR American Idol, America’s Next Top Model, Rock of Love, The Real World, Toddlers and Tiaras (this show is frightening), RuPaul’s Drag Race (best show on TV. You can also watch full episodes online and I HIGHLY recommend watching it if you aren’t already), Project Runway, Top Chef, Top Design, Shear Genius, and probably more.
4. Masturbation. What? I love getting myself off and it’s something that I’m really good at. If you do not yet own a Hitachi Magic Wand, please go about rectifying that ASAP.
5. Margaret Cho. I’m on a Margaret Cho kick lately, and have been rewatching all of her stuff. I cannot begin to express how much I love this woman, though I have attempted to in the past.
And now to pass on the fabulousness to other fabulous people who don’t really need to me confirm their fabulosity because they are already so damn fabulous.
1. Penny Plastic. She is fairly new to blogging, but I have been obsessed with her site from day one. She posts about fashion and food and music and lifestyle miscellany in general and she has absolutely amazing taste in pretty much everything. Her clothes rock, her taste in music rocks, I envy her cooking skills, and I love basically everything that she has to say.
2. Daniela. Her blog is also new, but she always has great things to say and I appreciate reading her words. She is also a much better writer than I think she realizes.
3. April. I have never met April, but I feel like if I ever did meet her, we would totes be BFF. We share a lot of the same views on things, and reading some of the things that she writes reminds me so much of myself. Also, she has been a loyal commenter for a long time, and one that adds a lot to the dialogue and discussion that (sometimes) takes place in my comments sections (plus, who doesn’t love getting comments??).
4. Alana. I love reading Alana’s blog because she is crazy intelligent and has a lot of good things to say about politics and life in general. She is a crazy liberal just like me, so I agree with most of her views on things. And I also learn something new almost every time I visit her blog and I think that’s really cool.
5. Osbasso. Os has followed me to three (THREE!) different blog addresses. He has been loyally reading me for going on four years now. He is the creator of the phenomenon that is HNT, which I participated in for a year or two and really enjoyed. He also lives in Montana, and I swear that I didn’t think that state actually had a population before I stumbled across his blog. I mean, who lives in Montana? Exactly. NO ONE.

As long as no one thinks anyone lives here, we're fine with that!
I'll get mine posted soon!
Oh, yes, how could I have left off Jezebel?
Truth is, I'm addicted to so many things, there's hardly room for all in a list of five.
Aww, thank you. =) I have lots of fun following your blog. I've told you time and time again I live vicariously through you.
Your blog is very thought provoking! (and awesome)
Keep it up!
Awwww, well thank you very very much!! I certainly appreciate it. But my blog is nowhere near as exciting as yours. I live vicariously through your posts! =) Keep up the great work, darlin'!
I must be living under a rock because this is the first time I’ve heard of Jezebel!
And thank you! I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m always amazed when someone says they like my blog, let alone read it. lol
Congratulations!
By the way, if you haven't already, you should try Freixenet Brut. It's Spanish…definitely my favorite of more inexpensive champagnes.
