Walking vs. Driving

After another argument about our lack of sex, Jesus and I decided to sit down once again to talk about it. I told him that I’d been the one whose advances were always turned down before, and I know how bad it feels. I understand that it feels like something is wrong with you and that your partner doesn’t want you anymore. I assured him that it wasn’t that, and it definitely wasn’t him.
 
He said that he’d been the person that was always turning the other person down before, and he knows how much that sucks, too. He understands that you hate the lack of sex just as much as the other person, and that you feel guilty and bad for not being able to provide it. He assured me that he didn’t want me to feel guilty or bad, because that would just make him feel worse.
 
He then made a great analogy for the situation. He said, “It’s like walking in Boston vs. driving in Boston. When you’re walking, it’s always those crazy drivers that almost run you over and you curse them out. When you’re driving, it’s always those damn pedestrians that walk in front of your car and you curse them out. And even though you’ve done both, you still forget to see it from the others’ perspective when you’re the one on foot or behind the wheel.”
 
I don’t think I could have said it any better.
