I can always gauge the sexual compatibility factor with a lover by his reaction the first time I growl, “Choke me!” If he enthusiastically obliges, gripping my neck with one or both of his hands, it is a very good indication that we will get along just fabulously in the bedroom. However, if he recoils in horror with a look of shock on his face, this is not a good sign. I’ve had guys look at me, confused, and ask, “WHAT did you say?” I always look back, unwavering, and reply, “I said, ‘CHOKE ME’.”
It’s how I knew that the sex between The Bruiser and I would be great. The first time we fucked, I requested that he choke me. He responded by grabbing my neck with vigor, and I came almost immediately. I absolutely love to be choked. It’s probably related to the reasons that I enjoy having my face slapped. Many people that like to be choked like to have their air supply cut off, as this supposedly enhances orgasm (it’s called autoerotic asphyxiation). I, personally, don’t get off on that aspect of it as much as I get off on giving someone that kind of power over me.
That person technically has my life in their hands when they grip my neck. They have complete control over how much pressure they use and have the ability to make me lose consciousness. And while I don’t have a desire to pass out from the choking, I enjoy feeling that pressure and having the knowledge that I could if he wanted me to. I’m at his mercy, and it’s up to him whether or not I retain consciousness.
Plus, it’s just fucking hot.
How do you guys feel about choking a lover or being choked during sex?

Britni you never fail to make me feel as vanilla as possible with my sex life with these posts.
I don't like being choked. Thinking about it right now and imagining someone's hand on my throat is making me feel a little sick (just being honest). I have trust issues though, so it makes some sense.
To each their own though. You know that is my motto.
I love the sensation of a hand on my throat. Usually not to the point of choking (I rather like to keep my breath), but certainly grip and pressure – and it's the power aspect that I find so very, very hot.

Promo, nailed it when she said Trust. Choking is a huge fucking trust issue between partners. As far as me I don't know if I could choke someone. I am very openminded and willing to try anything sexually, but choking…I dunno.
I think I've mentioned in a comment here before how much I looooove being choked. It's such a huge turn on and like you said, it's fucking hot!
Joe didn't hesitate the first time we had sex either when I asked him to choke me.
I just read some of the wiki article you linked to about the autoerotic asphyxiation and how it was first used to treat men with erectile dysfunction and impotency. He said, "Let's try it!"
Now, he has NO PROBLEMS getting or keeping it up, so I'm kinda stoked that he's wanting to try something new in the bedroom.
Your blog is adding fire to sex lives across the blogosphere! hee hee.

NO LIE!!!!
I've never choked someone or been chocked during sex but I don't think it's an all too uncommon request. This is not the first time I've heard of it. If a partner requested it, it definitely wouldn't put me off. If growled as you describe in the heat of passion. That would be hot!
I never knew I liked it until it was done to me. Subtly at first, while kissing, his hand went to my throat and the pressure increased.
*Swoon*
Now, he greets me with a hand on the throat. It's…ehhem…quite hot. He once pressed down on my chest, too, in that sort of possessive, suffocating way.
As long as everyone plays safe (sorry, the mother-hen in me comes out sometimes) I think it's delightful.
