From the new Diane von Furstenberg campain:
Because you’re not a woman if you’re not wearing a dress. We all know that pants and “masculine” clothing squash all feelings of being female that we possess.
Because somehow you can’t be powerful? Successful? Admired? Strong? if you don’t have a male body. A feminine body is desirable as long as your personality and lifestyle take on those much-more-desirable “masculine” traits.
Feel like a woman, just don’t act like a woman.
*Any surprise that this is shot by Terry Richardson?

I’m not going to lie, I can be pretty ignorant when it comes to seeing BS in media but the first one just SCREAMED at me in wrongness
Ugh that ad campaign is ignorant and weird. When will they stop pumping this into young women’s brains until they can’t be an individual anymore?
Terry Richardson is so disgusting on so many levels. He just oozes “creep.” I wouldn’t trust him with my dog. Ugh.
And this, just this, how much more do we really need shit masculinized in the business world? It’s bullshit.
Hey Britni! I figured this was the best way to let you know/ask you about the latest edition of your favorite magazine and mine…Cosmo =) They have this “Whips, Cages, Woot” article in there this month, about the “troubling” trend of musical artists incorporating “S&M” elements into their videos/performances/pictures and what it “means.” I’m really hoping that you see this article and make a post about it, I figure you’ll have a lot of (good) opinions about it =)
Thanks! I would, but Holly over at Pervocracy did a fantastic post on it and I couldn’t do it any better. You should go read hers!
You’re right, that was a good post!
This may just be a rumor, but it’s a tantalizing one; if it’s true, it maybe nudges the scales of gender normativity in fashion just a tiny bit in the direction of not completely awful: <a href="Is Jo Calderone really Lady Gaga?"<http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/25/jo-calderone-lady-gaga_n_693893.html
