Bartender has been in jail for the past 40 days and its been pretty miserable. It sucks having to be home every night at 7 to wait for his call, to make sure I make it to the jail every Thursday in time for visitation, to have someone else tell me how long I can see or talk to my boyfriend for. His court date has been pushed back no less than 5 times in the last 40 days.
My tax money pays for people like my boyfriend to sit in jail for months for DRIVING TO WORK. My boyfriend is walked into the courtroom in shackles and his jail uniform, looking just as much like a criminal as the man who committed assault with a deadly weapon or sold 3 ounces of cocaine to a cop.
The worst part is that when the judge opens up his file, it says that his license is suspended due to non payment of child support, when in fact that is the furthest thing from the truth. His daughter has lived with him for 12 of her 13 years. His ex-wife, a drug addict, filed for child support because she needed money. However, their daughter was living with Bartender at the time, and so he refused to pay child support for a child he was already supporting.
After you fail to pay your child support a certain number of times, they suspend your license and you must pay a fee ($1,000 maybe?) to get it reinstated. After the third time that this happens, its suspended indefinitely. So Bartender went to court, equipped with a lawyer and all the paperwork proving that he supported his daughter. It should be mentioned that the reason his ex-wife was not involved in the suit and in clearing his name was because she went MIA for 3 years and was nowhere to be found. The child support money he was paying was sitting in an account at Child Services, untouched, because they didn’t know where the ex-wife was and therefore she couldn’t collect the money.
The judge ruled that Bartender’s license was to be reinstated. However, someone accidentally reinstated the license of another B.R.H. in the state of Florida. And that is where the case has stood. Bartender having won the right to have his license reinstated, and that right accidentally going to someone with the same name living in the same state as him.
And now, my boyfriend has been sentenced to one year of house arrest for driving to work on a license that shouldn’t be suspended because all he’s ever done is take care of his child.
Aren’t you glad to know that your money as tax payers is going to support my boyfriend’s 40 days in jail and one year of house arrest? I sure am.

Dude, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. That's so unfair and awful. I hope that someone comes to their senses and rights this whole mess. And soon. *hugs*
