Profligacy and I have been looking for a collar for everyday wear for a while now. We wanted something that I could wear all the time, but everything we found was either too obviously a collar, or just “not me.” We wanted this because a) I can’t wear my collar 24/7, yet it’s nice to have something that symbolizes that, and b) we’re long distance, and it’s not like I can go out in public with Him and people will know that I have a partner, so we wanted something to symbolize the fact that I am taken.
After talking about it for a while, He asked how I would feel about a ring. I am nowhere near ready to accept an engagement ring, yet would be willing to wear a “commitment” ring. On my left hand, of course, so people would know that I was not available. And so, you may have seen me tweeting about a Very Special Present while I was visiting Profligacy this last time. And it is, indeed, Very Special. He took me to pick it out, and it’s perfect. It’s purple, it’s beautiful, it’s me, it’s US.
HHNT!

Aw, that’s such a sweet, beautiful photo It is *very* you!
xxxx
Woohoo! And pretty, too!
Aww that’s so sweet! And then it’s beautiful too! Congrats on finding a pleasing solution.
What a beautiful ring! I know it’s more traditional to go with a ring to show you’re taken than it is wearing a collar, but it’s very fitting for you and your personality. Love it!
Purdy! I love purple ^_^
Beautiful! I love the purple.
Beautiful! I love it. Great idea for a collar. Jor has his neck collar and an anklet. Yours is prettier though.
Very pretty!
It’s very pretty. I had never really thought of a commitment/engagement/wedding ring as a collar, but I guess anything that is a symbol of your devotion to your partner is. =)
If a bracelet can be called a public collar, so can a ring. They both encircle and that is the symbolism that matters.

lovely idea, lovely ring it’s also very you.
yeahhhh i just echoed the last 10 comments but whatev!
Rings worn on the finger are actually heavily steeped in myth – some of my favorite myths involve rings. For instance, Greek myth states that Prometheus wore a ring in place of the much-larger shackles that had bound him to his punishment: http://www.theringroom.co.uk/ringmyths.html
Granted, not exactly cheery, but I think it’s so interesting to have customs that date back in mention so far as these. Wikipedia has some neato stuff too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedding_ring (I know, yours is not a wedding ring, but same general idea of ring-as-statement, yah?)
It is wonderfully beautiful, I agree. Amethyst, right?
It is an amethyst! Surrounded by diamonds.
Yay! Pretty ring. I know that I love my necklace with the lock pendant. I haven’t taken it off since he put it on me. And thankfully it looks good with my collar as well.
I’m sure it will be comforting to see the ring and remember what it means.
Beautiful ring! It is very Britni, indeed.
Also, inspired by your purple-dress-with-green-tights combo, tomorrow I’m wearing a green necklace with a pink top. For me, it works. : )
oh love its gorgeous!!!!!!
