The raging UTIs that I get almost monthly* almost make the sex not worth having.
Almost.
*I don’t want to hear what worked for you, or remedies, but thanks for the thought. I know them all. I have what my doctor called “the perfect storm” for UTIs: a urethra abnormally close to my vaginal opening making it easier for bacteria to get in, and an abnormally small urethra making it easier for the bacteria to get trapped. I can have surgery to stretch it if I want, but I’m not willing to go that route yet.

I’ve come close to saying no more sex lots of times… Except then I get… A my husband gets… and, yeah. That whole abstaining thing goes right out the window. (Generally within mere days if not hours of having said, “No more!”) What can I say? The sex is more than worth it.
(And if one more person tells me I should drink cranberry juice I’m going to take the three bottles I have in my cupboard, so I don’t run out, and make them drink every single one so it feels like it’s coming out of their eyeballs, too. Just saying.)
Okay, that’s awful. You’re the second person I’ve heard of having this in the past week.
I know someone who had a surgery like that done. Might even be the same thing. She still gets UTIs sometimes but the doctor said it would probably be worse if she hadn’t done it when she did.
For me it’s annoying because like I cannot even link a cause to the effect. Last time I had a UTI I was like, WTF I’m not even having sex. What a rip-off.
Nope. No remedies or tips from me, only passionate empathy. I have a fistula in my bladder that’s right outside the vaginal wall and though it doesn’t break through the canal, it gets infected constantly from my Crohn’s. It gets inflamed just about every time I have sex too so I shall cramp and burn and cry WITH you.

I don’t get them, but my mom gets ‘em something fierce, so my condolences.
My sister had the surgery when she was just three years old after enduring (obviously not sex-related) UTI after UTI. She *still* is more prone to them and has to do the cranberry chews/peeing after sex/etc. etc. etc. Now her doc just gives her an open ‘scrip for Cipro so she can take it immediately when she needs it.
What a pain. I sympathize.
(And this is not a cure, but I love the turns-your-pee-orange numbing pills that you can get over the counter–Uristat. They don’t do anything to cure or prevent…but when you have a UTI and you’re about to get on a plane, they save your freaking life.)
