Today is the 36th anniversary of the landmark decision, Roe v. Wade, which deemed that making abortion illegal was unconstitutional. This is the decision that gave women a choice. Without this decision, we would not have the ability to choose what we wanted for our bodies. I would not have had a choice of what to do with my body. And so for that, I am grateful. Abortion is never ideal. It’s never a choice that you want to have to make. But sometimes it is the right choice and sometimes it is the only choice. I am beyond privileged to live somewhere that allows me that kind of control over my body.
Not only that, I am grateful to have a president that supports this right to choose as well. From the White House website: “President Obama understands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him. However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women’s rights under Roe v. Wade a priority in his Administration. He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision in that case.”
So, today I am grateful not only for the Supreme Court decision that allowed me to have a choice over my body, but I am grateful for the man in office who wants to make sure it stays that way, because we spent way too long with and got way too close to having people in power who wanted to take that choice away from us.
My body, my choice. Thank you, Roe v. Wade, and thank you PRESIDENT (!) Obama.

I'm all for a woman's right to choose. If the man thinks she shouldn't choose at all, he should be required by law to have full custody of the kid. He made the baby and he should shoulder the responsibility.
