Countdown

Today is day 17. Only 12 more days to go.

I miss my boyfriend.

I sit at home at night and wait for his call. I can’t call him. He has to call me, and can only call on a landline so that I can accept the charges for the collect call.

I go visit him once a week for two hours. He is on the other side of bulletproof glass and we talk through a phone.

I try to pretend that its just like being in a long-distance relationship. But its not. When you’re in a long-distance relationship, things are normal when you get to see each other. You can touch, hang out, and do all the things normal couples do for those few precious days that you have together.

Nothing about this is normal.

Wednesday is his birthday and I have to take my brother to the baseball game I bought him tickets to.

I just keep telling myself that its almost over.
